NOAC 2015

New Redwood Empire Council Website

In early August Redwood Empire Council released a major redesign to the Council website.  The Council will be using this to distribute the Council & District newsletters, as well as information on program activities throughout the Council.  As part of theis new website, there is a section devoted to Orca Lodge.  This area will be used to distribute information about upcoming Lodge events.

Don't forget to sign up for a MyCouncil Membership up in the top right hand corner of the Website. This will help you stay informed about upcoming events, trainings, camps, and much much more. You can also sign up for an electronic version of the Lodge Newsletter (Orca Spouts).  Eventually, your MyCouncil Membership is where you will sign up for Lodge events, and even make payments for them!

2014 - Orca Lodge 20th Anniversary

2014 marks 20 years since Orca Lodge was first chartered.  This year we have been involved with many different service projects.  We have helped with Camporees, several Council Level Fundraiser events, Memorial Day flags, and many more.  Wonk-A-Tonk chapter has been getting trained as Leave No Trace Trainers, to be available to help units in the Council with their LNT programs.  In addition, we have a great Conclave in Vallejo coming up, along with preparing for the 100th anniversary of the OA coming up next year.  Lots of great things are happening.  To keep informed, please follow the Order of the Arrow Facebook feed.  Also, important announcements are sent thru email via Lodgemaster, and also announced on the Orca Lodge #194 Facebook group.  If you are not getting messages, please contact records@orca194.org to find out why.

W-3N Conclave

The Grid. A program frontier. I tried to picture once powerful lodges as they moved through the network. How were they trapped there? Complacency? Fear of the new? Would their repetitive loops ever end? I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see. And then, one day...

Based on the digital world of the science fiction movie Tron, the Section W3N Council of Chiefs is proud to bring you Conclave 2014: Out There is Our Future. Conclave 2014 is about breaking free of the ruts great lodge programs fall into. Without trying new things, lodges are bound to stagnate; becoming stale as they stay comfortably with what is familiar. The grid represents this state: a dark and dangerous place where old, corrupt programs slowly waste away into nothingness. This year Conclave will ask your Lodge to compete like never before, rewarding the use preparation and creativity as you work for the top spot. Conclave is a call to action: a challenge for your lodge to try something new, to innovate, and to break free of the grid!

This years Conclave is comming up fast.  September 5-7 at the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo.  Orca Lodge is planning on a good showing to prepare us for when we are the Host Lodge for the 2015 Section W-3N Conclave.

This years program also has a new addition of the Cub Scout program.  If you are interested in Conclave, or know a Cub Scout that would benefit from the excitement of an event with nearly 400 Arrowmen at it, please register today at:  conclave.sectionw3n.org

Lodge Flaps

Do you know:

  • What the 20th Anniversary Lodge flap looks like?
  • When the last standard Lodge flap was issued, and when the next one will be available?
  • How a fundraiser flap will help reduce the cost for our Youth to attend NOAC next summer?

With all of these questions, it looks like there may be a few new Orca patches in the coming months.  Keep an eye out for news on these latest designs.
